Just like meat

I had this meal at Vegetarian Lifestyle - an oasis of civility. Everything on the entire menu is a recreation of a Shanghainese dish but done without meat. They also have unusual freshly squeezed juices and herbal teas concocted by a doctor. I had this pork and knot tied tofu skin dish. The pork was amazing - the texture had the grain of meat and there were layers of both meat and fat. The sauce is typical Shanghai style - thick, dark, and slightly sweet. I also had a seaweed sushi roll - I had no idea what was inside it but it was crunchy and looked like bacon bits. I will definitely go back to this restaurant - you can be assured that no one will light up a cigarette at the table next to you! The waitress was really sweet - she let me practice my Mandarin with her.
